The Mergers & Acquisitions Department (M&A) is responsible for structuring and executing a wide range of complex domestic and cross-border transactions including acquisitions, divestitures, mergers, spin-offs, joint-ventures, asset swaps and defenses against unsolicited takeover attempts. The group works in close partnership with the firm’s industry coverage groups across sectors.

Role & Responsibilities of the Americas Assignments Professional

Review new mandates and activities proposed by IBD and GCM professionals and teams across all Firm businesses to identify potential conflicts and reputational risks

Form appropriate strategies to navigate actual/potential conflicts and execute on those resolution plans through direct coordination with IBD and GCM professionals, IBD Management, internal legal counsel and the Global Conflicts Office (GCO)

Role reports directly to the Americas Assignments Associate, a Senior Associate in the Mergers & Acquisitions department

Liaise with Assignments Associates in other regions to address matters on a global basis

Monitor significant conflicts-related industry developments/trends impacting the Firm and region, regulatory developments and Firm or industry initiatives

Assist M&A Management with creation and development of reference and marketing materials and assist with critical administrative functions

QUALIFICATIONS

– Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent required – preferably in law, finance or business

Preferred work experience of at least 2 years in the financial services industry

M&A and/or capital markets transaction experience, corporate finance or investment management professional experience preferred

Ability to interact with senior decision makers, excellent presentation and relationship management skills

Adept at working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment

Strong analytical skills and attention to detail

Ability to work as a team player, as well as independently
